Man Involved in Hit-and-Run that Critically Injured Inv. Theetge Sentenced
(WENY) -- One of the suspects involved in critically injuring a Chemung Co. Sheriff's Office Investigator after attempting to flee with stolen merchandise last year was sentenced on Monday, April 14th.
Dominick Haley was sentenced to 12 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. According to the Chemung Co. District Attorney's Office, the court imposed a sentence of a one-year conditional discharge for Haley's conviction of petit larceny. The DA's Office said if Haley didn't flee, the conditional discharge would have been the only punishment likely handed down.
Police said Haley tried to steal $300 worth of items from Target, and was being chased by Inv. Theetge. The two men ran across the parking lot, where police said the other suspect, Fatiuna Massaline, was waiting in a car for Haley. Both Haley and Theetge jumped onto the hood of the car; that's when police say Massaline accelerated, throwing them both to the ground. Inv. Theetge was critically injured as a result suffering a skull fracture and a brain bleed. He was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital. Haley was not seriously hurt.

Haley previously pleaded guilty to all three charges on March 3rd, 2025.
A jury found Massaline guilty last month for assault of a police officer and second-degree assault for her role in the March 29th, 2024 incident. The jury deliberated for a little more than two hours.
Massaline was the driver on the night of March 29, 2024 when her ex-boyfriend, Haley, was believed to have shoplifted from the Target in Big Flats. Massaline was waiting for him in a parked car in the Target parking lot, when she said she saw Haley running through the lot, being chased by another man. Massaline said she intended to leave him behind, but two unmarked police cars attempted to block her car, and she evaded them by weaving through the parking lot to get away.
Massaline fled the scene, ditching the car at a nearby car dealership and hiding from authorities. She testified that she called for an Uber/Lyft, went to Walmart and bought a coat and took off her wig in order to change her appearance. She then got another Uber/Lyft back to Ithaca. She turned herself over to the authorities the next day.
Massaline is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19th.
