ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Community Arts of Elmira celebrated two of its art exhibitions on Friday night. A lot of the art showcased was centered around one main theme: community.

"It really brings out that creative expression and its community," said Tammy Heath, the artist behind the piece titled "I See You." Adding, "You end up with a family of friends, and the community is absolutely amazing, and you could just be free and be yourself and just be creative. It's amazing."

The two exhibitions celebrated three dozen artists. The first exhibition told the story of Mark Twain's Quarry Farm from the different perspectives and mediums of each artist. The second featured art from the community's 2025 Spring Collection.

The organization's President of the Board of Directors Lynne Rusinko said Friday's presentation is part of the group's 20th anniversary. She said that throughout this year's celebration, the center is taking time to thank the artists, the volunteers, and the community.

Several artists presented their pieces Friday night. As they described their work, many of them said the idea of community was their inspiration.

"I found out that there's this community arts center, and there's a pretty vibrant community, and if you drive around Elmira, you see all of these cool paintings all around all of the streets," said Claire Cadorette, the artist behind the piece titled "Mushdusa." Claire said she recently joined Community Arts of Elmira after moving to the area.

These two exhibitions are open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Both displays will be up through April 26. Admission is free, and anyone is welcome to attend.
