BRADFORD COUNTY, PA. (WENY) -- A Wyalusing woman will spend at least 6 months behind bars after being convicted of stealing over $75,000 from the Franklin Township Fire Department.

Patricia Tuttle, 42, used fraudulent PayPal transactions and ATM withdrawals to steal from the fire department while she was the Secretary and Treasurer there, according to the Bradford County District Attorney's Office. She then paid the fire department back by lying to an elderly couple to give her a loan.

Tuttle was convicted of Theft by Unlawful Taking and Theft by Deception.

She will serve between six to 23 months in the Bradford County Correctional Facility and will also have to pay $77,400 in restitution. Tuttle will also have to serve five years of probation.

"For Tuttle to go from no criminal history to six months in jail and having a felony on her record sends a good message to her not to reoffend," said Richard Wilson, the Bradford County District Attorney. "This also sends a message to others that thefts from people in a position of public trust, and thefts from elderly people, will not be tolerated."
