The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC) announced that effective immediately, the public boat launch and lower parking area at the North East Marina will be closed so maintenance can be performed.

The facility was expected to close the week of April 7 for annual maintenance. However, the closure has been expedited due to the collapse of a portion of the interior wall at the marina affecting the lower parking area.

According to the PFBC, annual maintenance at the marina typically lasts approximately two weeks so that contractors can perform dredging, sedimentation removal, erosion control activities, and installation of seasonal courtesy docks at the boat launch area.

The closure will remain in place until further notice as PFBC staff determine the damage to the wall.

The PFBC is asking visitors to avoid the active work zone around the marina basin and lower parking lot which is marked by temporary fencing and signage.
