Bradford Co. man will serve up to 7 years in prison for sexually assaulting child

BRADFORD COUNTY, PA. (WENY) -- A Bradford County man convicted of abusing a minor multiple times while she was sleeping will serve up to seven years in prison, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General.
Matthew Chapman, 43, was found guilty on Indecent Assault and Corruption of Minors charges after a jury trial late last year.
He has been sentenced to 15 months to seven years behind bars for the crimes.
Chapman must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The Attorney General says Chapman used his relationship with the child's family to gain access to the sleeping girl.
“Our efforts to hold abusers of children accountable for their vile actions will never cease,” said Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday. “I commend the investigators and prosecutors — and of course, the brave survivor — who helped secure this conviction and the jury for their dedication to their task throughout this disturbing case.”
