HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- American Legion Post 442 in Horseheads announced the date of the Annual Memorial Day Parade on Thursday. It will be held on Monday, May 26.

The parade will pay tribute to the men and women of our armed forces who gave everything in service of the United States of America. It also serves as a chance for the public to acknowledge that sacrifice and support both veterans and active-duty military members.

For those looking to take part in the parade, floats with patriotic themes are encouraged. You are also asked to fill out a parade entry form by April 28. You must fill out the entry form below and return the completed form back to the legion via email, fax, or mail. Specifics on how to do so are on the bottom of the form.

On the day of the parade, staging for participants will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the Horseheads High School and Center Street Elementary parking lots. Participants can enjoy a complimentary lunch afterward at the American Legion Post on Old Ithaca Road which will include hot dogs, hamburgers, and more.

As for those just looking to attend, organizers from the legion say the parade will officially begin at 2:00 P.M. and will travel through the village before ending at the American Legion Post 442.
