CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Social Security Administration announced on Thursday, April 3rd, that the Corning Social Security office is expected to be closed for the next six months for renovations. The SSA confirmed the news after WENY News reached out to the Social Security Administration after the Corning office was put on a list of offices that would only be accepting phone calls.

"People who need to conduct Social Security business in person may visit the Social Security office at Suite 19, 3345 Chambers Road, Horseheads," said the Social Security Administration in a statement issued to WENY News.

However, there is still concern about the future of the Horseheads office after it was tabbed for closure by DOGE. That being said, Congressman Nick Langworthy has announced the Horseheads location would not be closing, and that only unused office space will be closed.

According to the SSA, many services are available online at www.ssa.gov.
