United Way of Tompkins Co. announces new fundraiser along with Wegmans of Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The United Way of Tompkins County announced a new fundraiser running through April in order to make sure they can offer the same services going forward. The Meet the Need campaign is looking to raise $200,000 through April 30th, with 100 percent of the funds already dedicated to make sure uncertainty with federal funding doesn't impact local services offered through the non-profit and its partners.
In a time when many funding sources are shrinking, it is more important than ever to ensure that our impact partners have the resources they need to continue their vital work. These organizations are on the front lines, driving progress in our communities, and without dependable support, their efforts may be stifled. By maintaining and even increasing funding, we are not only securing their ability to deliver lasting impact, but we are also sending a message that we are committed to the long-term vision of a better, more equitable future," said Campaign Co-Chair and Executive Director of Ithaca Community Childcare Center Sherri Koski.
To help the United Way reach its goal, the Wegmans of Ithaca is launching a scanning campaign where shoppers can add on to their totals at the check out line. According to the United Way, 100 percent of the funds raised at Wegmans will go towards basic needs like food insecurity.
“Wegmans is proud to support meeting basic needs provided through local nonprofits and has launched a ‘scanning campaign’ towards United Ways goal. Now through May 3rd, shoppers can add donations on to their purchases and all funds will directly support this effort," said Alex Adelewitz, service manager for Wegmans of Ithaca and co-chair of the campaign.
