Waverly's Addison Westbrook Signs to Play Basketball at RIT
WAVERLY, NY (WENY) -- A standout athlete from Waverly signed on to play at the next level Tuesday afternoon, in a signing ceremony surrounded by family, friends and coaches.
Senior Addison Westbrook has committed to playing Division III basketball at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The multi-sport athlete came back from a serious knee injury last year, which forced her to the sidelines during the soccer season her junior year.
Westbrook said Tuesday her recovery has gone well, and she's finishing her senior year strong and feeling good. She said she is looking forward to continuing her basketball career at RIT, where she will study diagnostic medical sonography.
"When I first visited RIT, I could just tell I was going to love it there. The campus, it's in it's own space, it just really felt like home because I'm like so used to a little town, so it just kind of felt like that," Westbrook said.
The senior for Waverly has been an outstanding athlete in basketball, soccer, track, as well as flag football.
