Potential for severe weather

Mostly cloudy skies are expected Saturday with unseasonably mild temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s. A couple of showers and thunderstorms will be possible today as a front stays around the Finger Lakes region. A few showers will stick around tonight with lows in the mid 40s. The frontal boundary moves to the north on Sunday with winds shifting southerly and warming the area up to around 70 degrees. More showers and thunderstorms are expected Sunday as low pressure approaches. Western parts of the Twin Tiers will be under a marginal risk for severe weather Sunday as a few storms could contain gusty winds. The following cold front will pass through on Monday with more showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be on the severe side. The Storm Prediction Center has the Twin Tiers under a slight risk for Monday. Gusty winds and small hail will be possible. Temperatures will get into the lower 70s ahead of the front. Drier weather moves in Tuesday and cooler temperatures settle in. Highs will be in the lower 50s under partly sunny skies. More clouds arrive Wednesday with highs in the lower 50s. We will end out the week in the 60s and 70s. Mostly cloudy skies stick around for Thursday and Friday. A couple of rain showers will be possible Thursday as another front passes through.
