TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) -- The Towanda Campus Auxiliary has donated a paratransit vehicle to Guthrie EMS.

The vehicle is meant to take patients with mobility or transportation issues to their doctors appointments. About 500 patients use Guthrie EMS Paratransit monthly, according to the hospital network.

"The auxiliary is pleased to provide funds for the purchase of this much-needed non-emergency transport vehicle," said Marguerite Shaner, President of Towanda Hospital Auxiliary. "In its first weeks of service, the vehicle has already completed 40 transport runs. The emergency staff greatly appreciates this valuable addition to their fleet."

Guthrie says the addition to their fleet is a step forward in providing reliable transportation services to patients. The vehicle is worth over $63,000.
