ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The longtime morning host of 103.7 Q-Country announced Tuesday that he plans to retire.

Chris Allinger has been the host of "Wake Up Q" on WQNY-FM since 1990. He announced on his show that he will "wind down" his hosting duties at the end of August.

"By the end of August, I'm gonna be making Bridget's coffee in the morning, relaxing on the veranda... and sleeping a little bit later than 3:15 in the morning," Allinger told his audience Tuesday morning. "That's the first plan, and we'll see where it goes from there."

Allinger is also the Operations Manager for the Cayuga Media Group.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with Chris over the years,” said Cayuga Media Group President Chet Osadchey, “He is truly one of the kindest and most authentic people I have ever worked with. Chris is the same person to everyone in the building that he is to all his massive radio listening audience. He has been a truly great radio ambassador.”

Allinger will still host "Wake Up Q" on Q-Country weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. up until his retirement. Cayuga Media Group says it will air promotional and programming features throughout the end of 2025 in Allinger's stead.
