Meet Scarlett, WENY’s Pet of the Week!
PAINTED POST, NY (WENY) -- Meet Scarlett, WENY’s Pet of the Week from the Pawz and Purrz Animal Rescue!
Scarlett is a 4.5-month-old puppy currently in foster care. Susan Monroe, with the rescue, says Scarlett is a mix of Labradoodle and Husky.
"I just had Scarlett overnight, and she’s been fostered with children, other dogs, a ferret, and some small farm animals. She does great with everyone and adapts well to new environments," Monroe said. "She was a little shy when we first brought her in, but she warmed up right away."
While she is part Husky, Monroe said she doesn’t display many traits of the breed.
"She’s more like a Labradoodle, just the sweetest little thing," Monroe added.
Monroe believes Scarlett would be a good fit for a home with children and another laid-back dog.
"She loves kids, and she warmed up to mine quickly, though they can be a bit overbearing at times," Monroe said.
However, Monroe says that potential adopters should be prepared to work with Scarlett on leash training.
"She needs some help with her leash training and isn’t fully potty trained yet, but she’s working hard on it," Monroe said. "With time and patience, she’ll adapt quickly."
Brenda Boynton, also with Pawz and Purrz, shared details about upcoming events to support the rescue’s mission. The organization will hold a pet adoption event at PetSmart on March 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Additionally, Pawzz and Purrz has partnered with Texas Roadhouse for a fundraising event. On March 31 and April 1, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., diners who mention Pawzz and Purrz will have 10% of their meal total donated to the rescue.
