Babes, Bagels, n Beans Now Open on Market Street in Corning
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- A long-time dream is coming true for two business owners as they open a breakfast and lunch shop on Market Street in Corning. The breakfast rush saw customers in and out of Babes, Bagels, n Beans on Sunday morning.
However, this isn't the first rodeo for co-owners Ashton Meyers and Travis Hojnoski. It all began with Babes & Buds Coffee Lounge and Boutique opening in Watkins Glen in 2022.
Meyers says the second Corning location is offering more unique food and drink options to the public and, opening on Market Street has been a long-time goal for her and Hojnoski.
"It's absolutely astounding," said Meyers. "We know that Watkins Glen is more of a seasonal area. The state park saw 1.4 million visitors last year. So the summers are crazy and the winters are quiet. Travis was actually looking for something that was more year-round friendly and Market Street has met those expectations perfectly."
While the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks now, the owners say they are pleased with the amount of customers coming in the doors. They say they believe that one of the biggest things drawing in crowds has been their bagel selection, delivered straight from New York City.
"I mean, we're only four hours from the world's best bagel makers," said Meyers. "It was a no-brainer to go straight to the stores and get them fresh every day. Market Street loves their bagels because we have sold almost 3,000 bagels so far in the two weeks we've been here. So every day they're coming fresh. We're finding some new varieties and different kinds. We've had some requests so, anything people ask for, you're more than welcome to make suggestions and get some flavors and varieties that are unique."
Those Big Apple bagels join an extensive menu of other products made locally. This includes coffee roasted here in the region, plenty of flavor combinations for lattes, different spreads for bagels, pastries, and more.
As for the space itself, Meyers said they aim to make people feel like they can come into the shop, hang out with friends and loved ones, and feel cozy. She adds that the Finger Lakes region is an eclectic place and they aim to mirror that personality for guests.
"I'm just excited to have you know a business on Market Street," said Hojnoski. "And I'm very grateful for everybody that stopped and gave us the opportunity to be here."
For those who may want to pop by Babes, Bagels, n Beans, it's located at 18 W Market Street in Corning.
The shop is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and Fridays through Sundays from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
