ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Steuben County Sheriff's Deputy was arrested for allegedly sending others child porn.

According to the United States Attorney for the Western District of New York, Stuart McHenry, a 34-year-old Hornell man was charged by criminal complaint with Distribution and Receipt of Child Pornography.

McHenry allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations, sent and received child pornography on a digital messaging app. According to the U.S. Attorney, he uploaded and sent at least 22 child pornography files, including photos and videos, to others via private messages.

Investigators allegedly discovered records of the child pornography and conversations on McHenry's iCloud account while executing a search warrant inside his Hornell home. Law enforcement also found more suspected child porn on his phone during the search which happened in Oct. of 2024.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation took him into custody Friday. According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, McHenry voluntarily submitted to the agents. He was then taken to Rochester to be arraigned.

The Sheriff's Office said McHenry was placed on administrative leave when the investigation into him began.

Although we are incredibly disappointed and embarrassed by the allegations involved in this incident, in the interests of full transparency we felt it necessary to report this arrest and reiterate that these allegations are not, in any way, in alignment with our core values."

McHenry is being held pending a detention hearing.

If convicted, the charge carries a sentence of five to 20 years behind bars, and a maximum fine of $250,000
