Two Steuben Co. suspects indicted in deadly fentanyl overdose case

BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two Bath residents are facing drug charges for allegedly selling fentanyl which caused a woman's death.
Cedric Williams, 43, and 44-year-old Misty DeCamp, both from Bath, were indicted by a grand jury for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, according to Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker. Both of the charges are felonies.
Police found their alleged victim, 43-year-old Crystal Newman-Nicholson, dead inside a vehicle parked at a public lot in Bath in Nov. 2023. Law enforcement found drug paraphernalia inside her car, and an autopsy determined Newman-Nicholson's death was caused by a lethal dose of fentanyl.
According to the DA, police identified Williams and DeCamp as the suspects who allegedly sold fentanyl to her.
They were both arraigned in Steuben County Court and pleaded not guilty.
DeCamp was released into a pre-trial release program. Williams is being held in the Steuben County Jail on unrelated charges.
