LANSING, N.Y. (WENY) -- In the early hours of March 18, 2025, a residential fire broke out at a home on Asbury Road in Lansing, New York

According to New York State Police, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Troopers and multiple fire departments responded to the scene. Tragically, firefighters discovered one person deceased inside the residence.

Several fire departments took part in the response effort, including the Lansing Fire Department Inc., Groton Fire Department, Freeville Fire Department, McLean Fire and Rescue, Varna Volunteer Fire Company, Cayuga Heights Fire Department, and Tompkins Airport Fire Rescue. Additionally, the New York State Fire team was present at the scene to assist.

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Further details will be released as they become available.
