Dog Abandoned Outside Animal Shelter
Animal cruelty officers are investigating a dog abandoned outside an animal shelter.
Security camera video shows someone tying a dog to a tree outside of Because You Care in McKean Friday night.
The shelter posted the video on Facebook with the hope that someone could identify the person seen in the video.
The dog was left outside overnight and was discovered by volunteers Saturday morning.
The shelter staff has been taking care of the dog since. They’ve named him Timber since he was found tied to the tree.
He might not even be a year old, executive director Megan Duckett said. She believes Timber was a house pet.
“He likes people. Every situation he’s been in - he clearly knows what to do with toys,” Duckett said. “He’s a very friendly dog. He appeared to be relatively well taken care of. He’s not underweight or anything.”
She wants the person who abandoned him to come forward. This will help the staff determine his past and the best type of home for him.
Duckett said her shelter and others have been overwhelmed with animals. If someone decides to surrender their pet, she asks for patience as it might take longer to take the animal in.
Timber will be available for adoption in a few weeks.
