BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- A community organization is trying to gauge interest in building a new arts center at the former Dana Lyon Elementary School building in Bath.

The Waterman Center for the Arts launched an online survey to see if people would like an arts center in Bath and what the community would potentially use it for.

The possible arts center would be housed in the primary annex and cafeteria of the former school building.

"Responses to the survey will help us identify what the community wants and needs, which we will build into the plan," said Walt Longwell, president of the Waterman Center for the Arts Board of Directors. "We look forward to hearing from the community as we pursue our mission to bring quality arts experiences to residents and visitors."

The former elementary school is currently under renovations as Providence Housing Development Corporation turn the building into residential units, office space and a commercial space.

The survey will be available online until April 18. You can take the survey by clicking here.
