Corning Moose Lodge Weinerville events raises money for local Salvation Army
PAINTED POST, NY (WENY) -- The Corning Moose Lodge hosted its second annual Weinerville event on Saturday, March 15th. The event brought community members together to raise money, and eat some delicious food.
"It's been a wonderful day, and we've got about 20 to 30 of us that put a lot of time and dedication into the community with everything that we do," said Jodi Eighmey, a member of the Corning Moose Lodge." Adding, "It's just these days that makes it all worthwhile."
The event included raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, and a build-your-own hot dog and a baked potato bar. The money raised at the event will be donated to the Corning Salvation Army.
"Whatever activities we do here we do try to implement somehow into the community and this, today, was for the Salvation Army," Eighmey said.
The Corning Salvation Army has been in the Corning community for 140 years. Event organizers said the three iconic red donations buckets at the event were full by the end of the night.
The Weinerville night also gave community members a chance to kick back and relax, with live music, and a room decked out in full hot dog decor.
"It's us having fun and that's what we all do," Eighmey said. "The group of us that really put on a lot here, we just like having fun with everybody and having them come to our local Moose," she added.
The event last night was just one event for the Moose Lodge, a group that has a special meaning to Jodi Eighmy, as she is not the first person in her family to be a Moose.
"My dad was a huge member and he always did stuff for the Moose and I'm just trying to carry on his tradition," Eighmy said.
Organizers said this year's turnout surpassed last year's. They also said they raised close to $2,500. That number does not include the money in the red Salvation Army donation buckets.
Last year's Weinercille event raised around $1,800, according to organizers.
