Tompkins Campground Closure Announced Due to Staffing Issues

LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa (WENY) -- Tompkins Campground, a site in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, will remain closed until further notice due to staffing issues. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced the closure on March 13th.
According to the Baltimore District website of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the staffing shortages will prohibit the safe operations of the site ahead of the 2025 season. The swim beach and boat ramp will be closed until further notice, but day-use facilities such as picnic pavilions, walking trails, boat launches, disc golf course, and picnic areas will remain open at Cowanesque Lake.
USACE says Ives Run Campground and Visitor Information Center, as well as day-use facilities such as picnic pavilions, walking trails, boat launches, disc golf course, swim beach and picnic areas, will remain open. Lambs Creek Recreation Area and boat ramp will remain open.
Visitors who have paid reservations that have been cancelled will be refunded via recreation.gov. They say all refunds generated within the Recreation.gov system will be communicated through email. For more information, go to https://help.recreation.gov/helpcenter.
