Get Ready to Dance for a Cause: Elmira College Dance Marathon
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Elmira College is gearing up for an exciting event that combines fun and philanthropy: the upcoming Dance Marathon. This effort aims to raise funds and awareness for our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, which is crucial in providing life-saving treatments and healthcare services for children and their families in our community.
In preparation, "Right now we're actually in our tech weeks. So this week and next week is our decorations push. So every night, five to eight, we've got volunteers coming down to the college and helping us out to make decorations, and we've got a raffle underway and we're trying to share everything on social media and we've just kind of got all sorts of things in the work behind the scenes," says Merrick Kehoe, Elmira College Student.
Participants will join together to dance, celebrate, and support a worthy cause impacting young lives. The Dance Marathon is not just about the music and movement, it’s about making a difference for kids in need.
"The funds actually get donated directly to the Arnott Hospital NICU through the Children's Miracle Network and it helps the NICU families afford things like if they can't afford things like food while they're here in Elmira, because a lot of them are coming from like Rochester, like up in Pennsylvania. They come up from different places all over," shares JX Graham, Elmira College Student.
Mark your calendars for March 22nd at 10 a.m. at the Speidel Gymnasium. More information can be found here.
