ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tuesday marks Mardi Gras, and Chemung County Meals on Wheels is hosting a fundraiser to celebrate.

From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on March 4th, the community is invited to join the festivities at the Meals on Wheels building, located on William Street in Elmira.  Organizers say it will be a night of Cajun cooking, music from band Blue Eyed Soul, and raffles for the cause.  The money raised from Mardi Gras Night goes right back into the organization, which delivers hot meals to those with limited resources in the community.

"All the money we're going to use just to feed our clients. Right now we don't have a waiting list, but we have a lot of people who aren't able to pay and we don't want them to go without [food]. So right now, any money we're raising we're going to put in that little pile so that we can help more people in our community," said Katie Boland, the executive director of Chemung County Meals on Wheels.

Tickets are $25 at the door, and include live music, food, and prizes.  There will also be a cash bar.  Meals on Wheels is located at 409 William Street.
