Tracy Elementary Adds Book Vending Machine
Tracy Elementary has a new way to get kids excited about reading.
The school just installed a book vending machine, thanks to a $10,000 grant secured by Representative Ryan Bizzarro. The grant covered the cost of the machine and a library of books to fill it.
It will be unveiled Thursday morning at the school, which is located on W. 6th St.
Here’s how it works: Students earn special tokens through the school’s Paw-sitive Pride Program, which rewards positive behavior. They can use those tokens to “buy” a book from the machine—at no cost to them—and keep it to build their own home library.
The PTA also plans to keep the machine stocked with books to ensure its long-term success.
