NYSCOPBA expects formal offer from state to end correctional guard strike

NEW YORK (WENY) -- The union representing corrections officers in New York State announced on Thursday, Feb. 27th that after a third day of mediation talks, NYSCOPBA expects the state to present a formal offer to end the strike. No details on what that offer could entail were disclosed, but NYSCOPBA said it would present the offer to striking guards once it is received.
Prison guards have been on strike since February 17th in an effort to draw attention to what they say are state policies that create unsafe working conditions. Thousands of corrections officers, including those at Elmira Correctional Facility, remain on strike.
