Man Charged in Death of Woman Found at Motel in Port Allegany

A man has been charged in a woman’s death at a Port Allegany, Pa., motel.
State police say Brian Kuchinka, from Port Allegany, faces charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Officers discovered the woman’s body at the Midtown Motel in Port Allegany while investigating a missing person case.
Police say Kuchinka, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, had recently moved to the motel after their breakup. When officers tried to contact him, they heard a gunshot from his room. Kuchinka eventually surrendered and was found with a handgun and a self-inflicted head injury.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Kuchinka carrying the woman’s body into his motel room, according to investigators. The victim was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities are still investigating and ask for any information related to a disturbance at Costa’s Supermarket in Smethport last Friday night that may be connected to the case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at 814-368-9230 or 911.
