Black Community Honors Awards to recognize local leaders
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- The Black Community Honors Awards will celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the African American community, both locally and nationally. The event is set for Feb. 22, at 409 William Street in Elmira.
The ceremony, which begins with light refreshments and a social hour at 5 PM, will officially start at 6 PM. Tickets are priced at $25.
Among this year’s honorees is Dr. Wilma Hughey, recipient of the Rhonda Spencer Spirit Award. Malika and Michael Blanford will be honored with the Family Award, while Dominick Horton-Miller will receive the Young People Community Award.
The Icon Award will be presented to Danny Watson and Gordon Hills. Talima Aaron will be recognized with the Community Award, and Cairo Shazer will receive the Outstanding Business Award.
The Black Community Honors Awards highlight individuals who have played a vital role in uplifting and supporting the African American community through various contributions.
