Addison woman charged with stealing over $100,000 from former Elmira employer

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Chemung County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday, Jan. 30th that a 51-year-old Addison woman has been charged with Grand Larceny for allegedly stealing over $100,000 from her Elmira based employer. According to the Sheriff's Office, Deborah McClellan was working for Elmira Structures when she allegedly used her company fuel card to make purchases totaling roughly $108,000.
Police say they were initially called in by the owner of Elmira Structures back in June of 2024 after he discovered the alleged theft and fired McClellan. After a subsequent investigation, police say it was determined that McClellan used the card to make purchases from Lowe's in Big Flats, Ron's Service Center, Youngs Tires, Ferrario Ford, and Amazon using Elmira Structures business account.
McClellan has since been arraigned and released. She is set to appear in Big Flats Town Court at a later date.
