A public hearing has been scheduled for Pennsylvanians to comment on the sale of Frontier Communications to Verizon.

On February 13, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will host a public hearing in Wellsboro. The meeting will happen at 6pm at the Wellsboro Fire Company Annex (21 East Ave., Wellsboro, Tioga County).

You can register for the event by following the directions given below:

"To pre-register, contact the Office of Administrative Law Judge at 717-787-4497 or by email at [email protected] and provide the following information: first and last name, email address or phone number, date and time of the desired hearing, and whether an interpreter is needed."

Those who register will be allowed to give testimony at the hearing in the order they registered.

The meeting will give local residents a chance to share any concerns they have about the sale of Frontier Communications to Verizon. They can also share ways that Verizon can provide good service if the company goes through with the buy out.

Last fall, Verizon and Frontier announced the buyout. Verizon needs federal and state permission from utility commissions before the sale can go through.

“We want to see improvement and we want to not be forgotten. We feel like we've been forgotten in the northern tier a lot. And this is an opportunity for our constituents to say, hey, we exist and we deserve good service,” Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga) said. "And if this purchase is going to go through and the city is going to prove it, then these are the things that need to be true.”
