(WENY) -- The United Way of the Southern Tier is hosting its annual Day of Action, a community-wide volunteer event supporting local nonprofits.

This year, the event is scheduled for Friday, June 6.

In 2024, nearly 400 volunteers donated over 2,000 hours of service, assisting with tasks such as painting walls, pulling weeds, planting flowers, and more at 32 locations across the region.

Volunteers are needed once again this year. Those interested can contact the United Way by phone at (607)-936-3753 or email [email protected]

Stephen M. Hughes, president and CEO of United Way, emphasized the importance of volunteers, saying, “Volunteers are the backbone of the local nonprofit community, providing critical support and allowing organizations to focus on their missions.”
