Portion of Pennsylvania Ave to close for fallen firefighter's funeral services

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Pennsylvania Ave. in Elmira will be closed on Monday, January 27th for the services being held for local fallen firefighter.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania Ave from Cedar Street to Bulkhead Street will be closed from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the services for Big Elm Fire Department's Roger Lathrop. The services are being held at Olthof Funeral Home, and the road will be closed because of the expected large turnout.
Residents will still be able to travel through. People will still be able to get to the Rite Aid on Cedar St. and Pennsylvania Ave through the Cedar St. entrance or from Spruce St. The Southport Plaza will be accessible from Bulkhead St. and Broadway.
The Sheriff's Office says they thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.
