Catholic Charities to conduct annual Point in Time Survey

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WENY) -- Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler is gearing up to conduct its annual Point in Time survey.
Starting Thursday, January 23rd, the study will be conducted in a five county region. Catholic Charities says goal is to count the number of people experiencing homelessness during that specific point in time. They say federal funds could be used to address homeless issues specifically within our region as a result of this survey.
In 2024, Catholic Charities says there were 1,638 distinct individuals who experienced homelessness and received services in Chemung County. In Schuyler County, 77 individuals experiencing homelessness received services.
