Corning Man Charged Following High Speed Chase in Steuben County in Stolen Vehicle

ADDISON, NY (WENY) -- A Corning man is charged with multiple charges after he allegedly led police on a high speed chase in a stolen car.
According to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Hannacker, Jr. was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from the city of Corning. Deputies with the sheriff's office attempted to pull the car over in Addison, and say Hannacker sped off, hitting speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, and driving on a sidewalk in Addison. The chase came to a stop when the vehicle was remotely disabled by OnStar personnel; authorities say Hannacker then crashed the car into a guardrail on State Route 417.
Hannacker is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Reckless Driving, Driving While Ability Impaired due to Drugs, Operating Without a License, speeding, Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign, Moved from Lane Unsafely and driving without a seat belt.
Hannacker was treated at the hospital for minor injuries before he was arraigned, and sent to the Steuben County jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
