BRADFORD COUNTY, PA (WENY) -- A 57-year-old man from Bradford County could spend the rest of the his life in jail after being sentenced on four counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault and more. According to the Bradford County District Attorney, James Vanderpool sexually abused four different juveniles over a six year period of time, and as a result, will be in prison at least for the next 21 years .

"These convictions and this sentence are such that it is likely that Vanderpool will be incarcerated in a state prison for the rest of his life," said Bradford County District Attorney Richard Wilson in a prepared statement, adding "Under no circumstances will he be eligible for parole before he is 77 years of age, and even then, the likelihood of parole for these sorts of offenses, and that many counts, is negligible."

According to authorities, when Vanderpool knew prosecution was close, he collected rifles and engaged in a standoff with police from his truck, stating he would, "kill himself and wanted a witness." Authorities say that as a result, a SERT team was engaged, and Vanderpool was sprayed with a fire hose until he got out of his truck and was taken into custody.

Along with Aggravated Indecent Assault, Vanderpool was also sentenced on five counts of Person Not to Possess a Firearm.
