Woman injured after being hit by car in Waverly

WAVERLY, N.Y. (WENY) -- An elderly woman was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in Waverly on January 4th.
According to the Waverly Police Department, the accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. near the Chemung Street and Clark Street intersection. They say an 82-year-old woman was crossing the street, but not in the crosswalk, when she was hit by a car. Police say the driver of the car could not avoid the collision. The driver of the car was not injured.
Police say the elderly woman was taken to the hospital for reported serious injuries.
