Park Station announces opening of ice skating and ice fishing for winter
ERIN, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Chemung County Buildings and Grounds Department has announced that ice fishing and skating operations are now open at Park Station in Erin.
Weather permitting, Park Station will be open for both ice fishing and ice skating for the Winter season daily from the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Anyone can access weather conditions by calling either 607-739-9164 or 607-737-2843.
Park Station is also open to more winter activities such as cross-country skiing and hiking, and there is also no fee to enter the park during the winter season.
In order to safely skate or fish on a frozen lake the ice should be clear and four inches thick or more. The Buildings and Grounds Department is reminding everyone that motorized vehicles of any kind are not allowed on the ice surface, including ATV's and snowmobiles.
Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult when participating in these activities. Skating and fishing shall be done at one's own risk. In addition, ice fishing will not be allowed within the designated ice skating area.
