Coffee Chats at Finger Lakes Boating Museum Offers a Peek Into Local Maritime History
HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- This winter, the Finger Lakes Boating Museum is inviting anyone and everyone to grab a cup of coffee and join their captains for "Coffee Chats." The event will explore the stories behind the region's boating heritage.
Starting January 16, museum volunteers and captains will host informal talks, sharing their expertise on life on the water and historic vessels. Each session begins at 10:30 a.m., and pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
Also on Deck:
January 16: Captain Dave Rockwell discusses his work aboard the William Scandling and the Pat II, plus his discoveries while mapping sunken canal-era wrecks.
February 13: Captain Rob Whitcomb details the detailed restoration of the Pat II, a 100-year-old Kekuka Lake tour boat.
March 13: Captain Doug Vittum shares stories about the Taylor Wine Company and the history of sparkling wine transportation on Keuka Lake.
The coffee chats are included with regular museum admission and are free for members. Guests are encouraged to call 607 569-2222 to learn more or reserve their spot.
