Local School District Wins $7,500 Agriculture Grant
This was day 3 of the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show. There was plenty of action going on, from mullet contests to animal judging, to square dancing tonight.
One of the official events was hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Department of Labor and Industry. The administration announced $500,000 in grants.
This money was given to schools and organizations across the state that help to educate students about the agriculture industry.
Tioga county’s Wellsboro School District got $7,500 towards their Go Green for Veterinary and Environmental Science program.
Agriculture is an industry that can struggle to attract young people into it’s workforce. A member of the 4H state committee who lives in Towanda, Pennsylvania shared what it means to have grants like this one focused on an area she is passionate about.
“As a youth, sometimes you think that your voice isn't heard because you're not as old as those that are making those decisions,” Melody Wright said, the communication committee for 4H State Committee. "But to know that they are there for you and that they have your back and that they want to support you and promote what you're doing, it means a lot.”
