Gov. Hochul Responds to New Year's Day Attack in New Orleans
(WENY) -- New York Governor Kathy Hochul condemned the terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day, calling it "a cowardly act of evil." Hochul says this is a reminder of the ongoing threat of terrorism.
While there is no known connection to New York State, Hochul says she has directed the New York State Police to be on high alert as details emerge.
The Governor emphasized New York's commitment to counterterrorism efforts and discussed the ongoing investment in staffing and training for law enforcement.
"We will continue doing everything we can to keep New York safe," says Hochul.
Hochul assured New Yorkers that state agencies are working closely with federal and local partners including the FBI and NYPD. She also expressed New York's readiness to assist New Orleans in any possible way.
