Summer Heil sentenced to prison for role in Bradford Co. murder, dismemberment case
TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) -- One of the suspects connected to the murder and dismemberment of a Bradford County man will serve a minimum sentence of nine months behind bars for her role following his death, according to the Bradford County District Attorney.
Summer Heil helped cut up Michael Pruitt's body and dispose of it in a burn pit, a day after he was allegedly murdered by Ronda and Terry Parker in March of 2024.
Heil was initially charged with Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering with Physical Evidence, both misdemeanors, but plead guilty to Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution with intent to Conceal or Destroy Evidence, a felony, during a court appearance on October 17.
"Because she abused the corpse and tampered with the body in order to help those responsible for the killing avoid prosecution, the additional felony charge was appropriate," said Richard Wilson, Bradford County District Attorney.
Heil pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement that dropped the other charges against her. Heil will have to testify at the murder trials of Ronda and Terry Parker.
The maximum sentence Heil can serve in state prison for her role in the case is three years. This time will be tacked on to other sentences that Heil is currently serving. She is expected to be in state custody for anywhere from three years and nine months up to 14 years.
Ronda and Terry Parker are charged with Criminal Homicide, Conspiracy - Criminal Homicide, Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering With/Fabricating Physical Evidence.
Terry Parker is accused of shooting Michael Pruitt to death at Ronda's house in Springfield Township on March 8th. Ronda Parker told police that Terry Parker was concerned Pruitt had allegedly been sexually inappropriate with his daughters, and that Terry Parker was also jealous of the victim's relationship with Ronda.
After the killing, the Parker's allegedly wrapped Pruitt's body in a tarp, and drove it down to Harrisburg and stayed the night with Heil. The trio then drove back to Ronda's home the next day where they cut up the body and disposed of it in a burn pit.
Ronda and Terry Parker are expected to go on trial in 2025; they could face the death penalty.
