Low pressure moves in on New Year's Eve

Dense fog makes up much of the early morning, significantly impacting local visibility. Highs for Sunday could approach local records as temperatures top out just below 60 while rain showers fall across the region for most of the day. We could see some accumulations of around 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch of rain.
Temps start to drop over the next full week, tumbling into the mid 40s for both Monday and Tuesday, but the former looks to see more sunshine and an overall minimal chance of rain.
New Year's Day sees a possibility of rain and snow showers in the overnight hours, temperatures tumble below 40 during the first days of January, opening up the door for snow showers for both next Thursday and Friday. Saturday sees temperatures stick below freezing for the near future.
