ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- A fish fry fundraiser will be held on Monday to benefit the launch of a new program locally.

The Southern Young Marine program is a local unit of the Young Marines, under the E.J. Brewer Detachment of the Marine Corps League. According to the Young Marines website, the organization "strengthens the lives of America's youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building and leadership and promotes a lifestyle that is conducive to being productive members of society."

The Young Marines is open to all youth, ages eight through the completion of high school.

The Marine Corps League is partnering with Doug's Fish Fry To-Go to help raise funds to support the program.

On Monday, December 30th, Doug's Fish Fry's food truck will be located at the Value Home Center Plaza at 1105 Broadway Street in Elmira from 11AM until 6PM. Proceeds from the meals sold will help support the Marine Corps League.
