ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The City of Elmira is asking for public input as it looks to develop a five year plan to identify key projects in the city the community finds important.

The input will help develop a Five Year Consolidated Plan that will allow the city to allocate funding from the federal Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds to reach goals that residents highlight. The grants can cover housing and other community needs.

To have your voice heard, Elmira set up an online survey that will let residents identify problem areas in the city, highlight infrastructure and programs in need of improvement, as well as identify current housing issues residents are facing.

You can take the survey by clicking the link here. Responses will be accepted between Dec 27 and Feb 28. Residents can also contact the Department of Community Development for a physical copy of the survey.

The city will also hold two public community meetings regarding the five year plan. The first meeting will take place at Steele Memorial Library at 101 E. Church St. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The second meeting will happen in the Law Library at City Hall at 317 E. Church St. on Monday, Jan. 27 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
