Elmira-Corning NAACP to Host Kwanzaa Celebration
CORNING, NY (WENY) -- The Elmira-Corning branch of the NAACP will host its annual Kwanzaa celebration on Saturday.
On December 28th, the organization will hold a luncheon at the Friendship Baptist Church at 120 Pearl Street in Corning, from 1PM to 3PM. There will be food, singing, and a guest speaker. This year's keynote speaker is Tara Clark, a case supervisor for Child Protective Services in Tompkins County.
This year's theme is "Kwanzaa: A Seven Principle Celebration from Unity to Faith."
Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration of African-American culture and values, running from December 26 through January 1. Each day, one of seven candles on a kinara is lit - each representing one of the principles of Kwanzaa.
The Elmira-Corning NAACP's event is free and open to the public.
