Fire destroys home in the Town of Erwin
UPDATE 4 P.M. (12/24): A fire has destroyed a home on Mill St. in the Town of Erwin. The blaze ignited on Christmas Eve morning.
According to Coopers Plains Fire Chief Todd Hall, several dogs were severely injured in the fire. The resident of the house was not home.
Crews were called out to the blaze at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. The fire was under control a little before 11:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Town of Erin has condemned the home following the blaze.
The Coopers Plains Fire Department says Painted Post, Campbell, Forest View Gang Mills Fire Departments, AMR Ambulance, Steuben County Sheriff's Office, Steuben County Fire Investigators and the New York State Police were all on scene to assist.
ERWIN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Multiple fire departments responded to the scene of a house fire in the Town of Erwin, Steuben County, in the morning hours of Wednesday, Dec. 24th. Crews were first called out to the fire located on Mill Street around 10:30 a.m.
According to the WENY News reporter on the scene, the home appears to have been destroyed, with heavy smoke that could be seen in the area, along with a massive presence of first responders. Still no word yet on what started the fire, or if anyone was hurt.
