Home destroyed after Sunday night fire in Cameron
CAMERON, N.Y. (WENY) --A home is totally destroyed after a house fire in Cameron Sunday night.
According to the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze started inside the chimney, and then spread to the surrounding walls and roof of the home on Bald Hill Rd. near Cartwright Rd.
No one was hurt in the fire. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
Crews were called out to the fire around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters were on scene for almost 5 hours battling the fire, according to the Cameron VFD.
Bath along with Campbell, Addison, Thurston, Canisteo, Woodhull and Gang Mills Fire Departments were also called to respond to the house fire. According to a post Bath Volunteer Fire Department made on Facebook, both of their engines and tanker that they brought to the scene froze while there, due to frigid temperatures, and had to be thawed out at the station.
