PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- A woman from Painted Post recently won $3 million through a scratch-off ticket, according to the New York Lottery. After state and federal withholdings, she received a single lump sum payment of $1,406,160.

Lottery officials say she won the money through the Xtreme Cash scratch-off game, a $10 ticket. The scratcher was sold at the Painted Post Walmart at 3217 Silverback Lane.

The New York Lottery is a billion-dollar enterprise. Last year, the agency generated over $4 billion on scratch-off ticket sales alone. Much of the money made is distributed to public schools across New York State. Steuben County schools received over $24 million in lottery contributions during the last fiscal year.
