Chemung Co. Sheriff's Office conducts Elf Investigations for local families
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- 'Tis the holiday season, which means elves have made their yearly visits to many families in the area. But, the Chemung County Sheriff's Office says some elves have been causing mischief in the community.
At night, the elves have been up to no good; climbing all over patrol cars, eating marshmallows, and roaming around Chemung County with their elf friends. Sheriff's Officers have been rounding up these elves, making special stops to Southern Tier homes to return the elves to their families, explaining to the children about their adventures.
When asked about the mischief their elf was up to, siblings Greyson, Brantley, Carter, and Madalynn were very surprised.
The Sheriff's Office says they're happy to foster meaningful relationships with the community.
"To be able to have a career that you're able to reach people on a personal level and bring a little bit of Christmas magic to their house is an amazing feeling. It's unlike no other career out there. To see the look on the kids' faces when you bring a little bit of that magic into their house and be able to make them smile, it makes all of this career worthwhile," said Sergeant David Buchholz.
In the holiday spirit, the Sheriff's Office has been letting the elves off with warnings.
