Watkins Glen Central School District voters reject proposed Capitol Improvement Project
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Watkins Glen Central School District residents rejected a proposed $35.8 million Capital Improvement Project Tuesday, according to the district.
The project would have upgraded athletic facilities, infrastructure and educational spaces at the high school, playground, security and classroom improvements at the elementary school, as well as improve the bus garage and the storage building.
The referendum failed in a 174 to 430 vote. The project, if approved, would have increased taxes by over 4%.
