ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Saturday, December 14th, national cemeteries across the country will be filled with volunteers to lay wreaths at the graves of service members as part of Wreaths Across America. On Wednesday, Dec. 11th at Cameron Manufacturing in Horseheads, over 4,000 wreaths were delivered before being transported to Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira.

"It feels pretty awesome to be able to do that, especially at a time of year like this. It melts your heart," said Charles Combs, a semi-truck driver and Navy veteran who delivered the wreaths Wednesday morning.

Wreaths Across America was started in 2007 with help from veterans and truckers as a way to make sure the graves of service members are honored in military cemeteries. What started at Arlington National Cemetery, has spread to military cemeteries across America.
